MARSHALL, Minn. – The new turf installation project at The Schwan Regional Event Center on the campus of Southwest Minnesota State University is now complete as the academic year opens for 2022-23.
  
Sprinturf, the contractor for the project, removed and replaced 100,000 square feet of synthetic turf. The project also included two new field goal posts, along with a 6' by 6" concrete walk beside the seating area for equipment storage. A new netting system will also be installed to cover and protect the scoreboard on the north end of the stadium.
 
The new turf features the current SMSU Athletics logo at midfield along with the wordmark 'Mustangs' in each endzone.
 
The Schwan Regional Event Center, which opened in 2008, is the competition home for SMSU football and soccer and has also hosted SMSU softball games in the spring. The facility is also the home of Marshall High School football and soccer and is used by and numerous campus and community organizations.
