MORRIS, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University swimming & diving team put together a dominating performance on Friday night earning three dual victories at the University of Minnesota Morris Quad.
SMSU defeated Concordia (Moorhead), 163-63, Minnesota Morris, 162-52 and Iowa Lakes Community College, 180-4.
The Mustangs recorded 10 first-place finishes out of 13 events.
Quincie Klein won the 1,000-yard freestyle at 11:25.91 with
Ashlynn Dunlop finishing in second at 11:38.37.
The 400-yard medley relay team of
Natalie Bohnert,
Shannon Bailey,
Heather Arlen and
Maija Geier earned first-place with a time of 4:12.73.
The 400-yard freestyle team of
Carla Nevi,
Ellie Wilber,
Maddy Storm and Klein secured a first-place time at 3:48.50.
Carla Nevi and
Ellie Wilber finished first and second respectively in the 200-yard freestyle at 2:00.13 and 2:04.12. Nevi also won the 500-yard freestyle at 5:24.45 with Wilber placing second at 5:35.13.
Geier earned first place finishes in both the 50-yard freestyle (25.15) and 100-yard freestyle (55.18), while Bohnert captured first place in the 50-yard backstroke with a time of 29.27.
Maddy Storm recorded a first-place time of 31.10 in the 50-yard breaststroke with
Rebeca Temotio right behind in second place at 32.80 and
Ella Swanson finishing third at 33.77.
Storm would finish in first place in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:15.88.
SMSU will be right back in action on Saturday with an 11 a.m. double-dual versus Minnesota Morris and Iowa Lakes Community College at the Don Palm Natatorium.
