MARSHALL, Minn. – Nearly 150 individuals participated in the 38th annual "David and Carol Drown SMSU Golf Classic" held on Friday, June 16, at the Marshall Golf Club.
The annual event is a five-person scramble format tournament for individuals of all playing abilities and is a tremendous way for Mustang supporters to enjoy a great day of golf and help raise scholarship dollars for SMSU student-athletes.
In addition to the 18 holes of golf, all registrants received a Mustang Brumate Hopsulater Trio, golf ball and tees, complimentary range balls, lunch and refreshments on the course.
The team of Bill Mulso, Eric Eben, Mike VanDrehle, Bill Toulouse and Casey Werner took home first place with a score of 54. The team of Jordan Miller, Alex Koch, Shaun Condon, Nick Smith and Taylor Schafer earned second place via scorecard tiebreaker with a score of 55. The Kruse Motors team Kris McKenzie, Spencer Aufenthie, Matt Bennet, Kyle McKenize and Riley Hedman also shot a score of 55.
The event is expected to raise close to $20,000 which will go towards scholarships for SMSU student-athletes. The SMSU Athletics Department would like to thank the Marshall Golf Club for hosting the event, anchor sponsor NB Golf Cars and all the great sponsors at various levels that help make this event a success.
