MARSHALL, Minn. - The No. 16 Mustang volleyball team won three straight sets to beat Bemidji State by set scores of 23-25, 25-6, 25-19, 25-22 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
SMSU improves to 21-4 in the year and 12-4 in NSIC play. BSU drops to 8-16 overall and 3-13 in the conference.
SMSU was led by
Saari Kuehl with 15 kills on .310 hitting and a pair of solo blocks.
Emma VanHeel and
Ashley Peltier each swung for nine kills and combined for five block assists.
Leah Jones added eight kills and recorded 11 digs.
Sydney Thein supported the attack with 37 set assists and helped defensively with 10 digs.
McKenzie Tolk anchored the Mustang defense, tallying 18 digs.
BSU was led offensively by Rylie Bjerklie, who batted down 11 kills on .269 hitting. Kylie Struble added 12 digs on defense.
The Mustangs are back in action next weekend on the road with matches against MSU Moorhead and Northern State.
