MARSHALL, MINN. – The 25^th ranked Southwest Minnesota State University Mustangs fell to the 18^th ranked Northern State University Wolves on Friday evening by a score of 25-14. This loss brings the Mustangs to 3-7 overall and 1-7 in the NSIC, while the Wolves move to 8-12 and 3-5 in the NSIC.
 
Carlo Arreola started off the meet strong for the Mustangs, after a slow first three periods, the 125 lbs match headed to overtime. In overtime, Arreola was able to secure a takedown in the first overtime period to win by 4-1 sudden victory.
 
Northern State picked up victories at 133 by tech, at 141 by major decision and at 149 by decision.
 
Sean Howk got the Mustangs back in the win column, securing a takedown late in the third period to earn a 4-2 decision victory.
 
NSU earned a major decision win at 165, a fall victory at 174 and a decision victory at 184.
 
Caden Steffen dominated Tyson Lien, earning five takedowns and a four point near fall on his way to a 19-3 tech fall victory.
 
Jacob Dykes ended the dual on a high note for the Mustangs, earning a 1-0 decision victory over Nathan Schauer.
 
"I want to thank everyone who came out to support us tonight and honor the seniors that have been leaders on this team," said third year head coach Chayse Jackson. "The guys wrestled great and showed a lot of grit against another very talented top 20 program. The team did an excellent job of attacking relentlessly and we won 5/12 of the bouts. The improvement week to week is noticeable, and this next week will be no different. We step back, improve, and go to war against Sioux Falls in the final dual of the year.
