MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's swimming & diving team opens its 2024-25 season on Friday in Aberdeen, S.D., for the Northern State Relay Meet with Northern State and UMary competing. Following Friday's meet, SMSU will remain in Aberdeen and compete on Saturday at the NSU Triangular along with NSU and UMary.
Competition is slated to begin at 6 p.m. and will be held inside the Aberdeen YMCA.
Friday's meet begins the sixth season for the SMSU program at the Division II level since starting the program in May of 2018. Sixth-year head coach
Marty Wahle has 25 individuals on the roster with six seniors, one junior, eight sophomores and 10 freshmen.
SMSU returns 15 letter winners from last season's team that finished seventh at the NSIC Championships with school record 275 points. Sophomore
Carla Nevi earned All-NSIC accolades last season in both the 100 and 200-yard backstroke.
