JAMESTOWN, N.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's soccer team (2-8, 1-6 NSIC) were defeated Friday afternoon by the Jamestown Jimmies (2-7, 2-5 NSIC) by a score of 4-1.
The Mustangs and the Jimmies each had 13 shots in the match, with seven on target for Jamestown, and four on target for SMSU.
The Jimmies opened the scoring in the first half when Vega Canada scored in the 27
th minute with a left footed volley.
Jamestown then capitalized on their chances in the second half, scoring three goals within a nine-minute span, and leaving the Mustangs in a 4-0 deficit.
Laynee Godfrey scored the lone goal in for SMSU in the match and her first goal as a Mustang in the 83
rd minute.
Abigail Schmidt assisted the goal.
SMSU's two goalkeepers made two saves on the match, while Jamestown's two goalkeepers made three saves.
The Mustangs are back on the road on Sunday, Oct. 12, in Aberdeen, S.D., facing Northern State (1-6-2, 1-3-2 NSIC) at 1 p.m. The match is available to watch on the NSIC Network.
