SMSU soccer take part in their final road trip of 2025 season this weekend

THIS WEEK
  • The Southwest Minnesota State University women's soccer team (2-13, 1-11 NSIC) embarks on their final road trip for the 2025 season.
  • The Mustangs start the weekend facing the Winona State Warriors on Friday, Oct. 31, at 5 p.m.
  • Then on Sunday, the Mustangs travel to St. Paul to take on the Concordia-St. Paul Golden Bears at 1 p.m.

LAST WEEK
  • The Mustangs played a pair of matches in Marshall last weekend.
  • SMSU lost against Minot State 4-0 Friday night and lost to UMary on Sunday afternoon 4-0.
SERIES HISTORY
  • Friday's Halloween matchup with Winona State will mark the 40th meeting between the Mustangs and the Warriors, with Winona State leading the series 33-2-4 all time.
  • SMSU is 2-2-1 against the Warriors in the last five matchups.
  • Concordia-St. Paul and SMSU will meet for the 28th time on Sunday, with the Golden Bears holding a 15-11-1 advantage all time.
  • CSP has won the last eight matchups against the Mustangs.
SCOUTING WINONA STATE
  • The Warriors are currently 5-5-4 on the season and are 4-5-3 in the NSIC. Last week the Warriors tied Minnesota Duluth 1-1 on Friday and lost to Bemidji State 2-1 on Sunday afternoon.
  • The Warriors are led by head coach Delaney Marier in her 2nd season at Winona State.
  • Sophomore midfielder Kyleigh Jannisch currently leads the Warriors in goals with five, and shots on goal with 18.
SCOUTING CONCORDIA-ST. PAUL
  • The Golden Bears currently hold a 9-3-3 record (6-3-3 NSIC) on their season. Last weekend, CSP lost on Friday night to Bemidji State 1-0, while the Golden Bears defeated Minnesota Duluth 1-0 on Sunday morning.
  • CSP is coached by Steve Bellis in his 14th season at the school.
  • Junior midfielder Sophia Haase has scored seven goals for the Golden Bears this season, and has 30 shots on target, leading the team in both categories.
TEAM LEADERS
  • Senior forward Brooke Wetterstrom currently leads the Mustangs in goals with three, while freshman Virginia Pruitt has two.
  • Sophomore forward Jada Backes and Wetterstrom both lead the team in shots on goal with nine on the season.
  • Kennady Krebs has a .717 save percentage on the season, making 71 saves throughout the season.
HEAD COACH CLAY GLASGOW 
  • Clay Glasgow is in his fourth season as head coach and has a record of 13-45-10 overall, including 12-36-7 in NSIC play. He was hired as the sixth head coach in program history on Feb. 25, 2022.   
  • Glasgow came to SMSU after spending eight seasons (2014-21) as head women's soccer coach at Dakota Wesleyan University (S.D.) recording a mark of 49-86-5.   
  • During his last two seasons at DWU, the Tigers amassed back-to-back winning seasons and qualified for the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament both seasons.

  • The Mustangs come back to Marshall for their final game of the 2025 season.
  • SMSU matches up against Sioux Falls on Thursday, Nov. 6, at 1 p.m. at The Schwan Regional Event Center
