LEXINGTON, Ky. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's volleyball team (17-6, 10-6 NSIC) moves up two spots to No. 16 in the recent American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) DII poll released on Monday afternoon.
The Mustangs, ranked No. 18 in the week eight poll, won both home matches last weekend, defeating then No. 21 ranked Minnesota Duluth in four sets on the team's annual 'Red Out' match, and sweeping Bemidji State the next day.
SMSU is one of seven NSIC schools represented in the recent poll, with Wayne State leading the conference at No. 5. Concordia-St. Paul remains at No. 9 followed by St. Cloud State at No. 10. The Mustangs are at No. 16, followed by Northern State at No. 22. Minnesota State remains at No. 24, and Minnesota Duluth falls four spots to No. 25.
The Mustangs continue NSIC action with two matches on the road this week. SMSU travels to Aberdeen, S.D. on Friday, Nov. 7 at 6 p.m. against No. 22 Northern State. The Mustangs then travel north to face the Jamestown Jimmies the following day at 12 p.m. Both matches are available to watch on the NSIC Network.
