Mustang soccer finishes season tomorrow against Sioux Falls

TOMORROW
  • The Southwest Minnesota State University women's soccer team (2-15, 1-13 NSIC) plays its final match of the season on Thursday, Nov. 6, facing the Sioux Falls Cougars (6-9-2, 4-8-2 NSIC) at 1 p.m.
  • The match will be available to watch on the NSIC Network.

LAST WEEK
  • The Mustangs traveled east to Winona State on Oct. 31, losing 3-0 to the Warriors.
  • SMSU then traveled to St. Paul to face Concordia-St. Paul. The Mustangs lost 6-0 to the Golden Bears.
SERIES HISTORY
  • Thursday afternoon's matchup with Sioux Falls will mark the 20th meeting between the Mustangs and the Cougars with SMSU leading the series 10-8-1 all time.
  • SMSU is 3-2-1 in the last six matchups against the Cougars.
SCOUTING SIOUX FALLS
  • The Cougars are currently 6-9-2 on the season and are 4-8-2 in the NSIC. Last week the Cougars lost to both Concordia-St. Paul and Winona State, 1-0 and 2-0 respectively
  • The Cougars are led by head coach Joe DeMay in his 1st season at Sioux Falls.
  • Sophomore forward Addison Van Zee currently leads the Cougars in goals with eight, and shots on goal with 20.
TEAM LEADERS
  • Senior forward Brooke Wetterstrom currently leads the Mustangs in goals with three, while freshman Virginia Pruitt has two.
  • Wetterstrom also leads the team in shots on goal with 11, and sophomore forward Jada Backes is second with nine.
  • Kennady Krebs has a .704 save percentage on the season, making 88 saves throughout the season.
  • Against CSP, Krebs made 14 saves in the match, the most in a single game since 2018.
HEAD COACH CLAY GLASGOW 
  • Clay Glasgow is in his fourth season as head coach and has a record of 13-47-10 overall, including 12-38-7 in NSIC play. He was hired as the sixth head coach in program history on Feb. 25, 2022.   
  • Glasgow came to SMSU after spending eight seasons (2014-21) as head women's soccer coach at Dakota Wesleyan University (S.D.) recording a mark of 49-86-5.   
  • During his last two seasons at DWU, the Tigers amassed back-to-back winning seasons and qualified for the Great Plains Athletic Conference Tournament both seasons.
