KENOSHA, Wis. – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team competed Saturday in the Jim Koch Wisconsin Open, receiving no place finishers. The tournament featured a handful of DII teams, with a majority of the teams being DI including Purdue, Illinois, Iowa, and Northern Iowa.
 
Overall, the team had 22 wins with 2 falls, 1 TF, and 2 major decisions.
 
"Although the weekend did not go our way, it was a reminder that there is much more to wrestling than the wins. The camaraderie, the challenge, and the commitment to development that epitomizes our program were on full display," said fifth year head coach Chayse Jackson. "From Friday to Saturday we made adjustments and improvements. While the scoreboard and the wins don't reflect our effort, I am proud of the way we competed. Regardless of the opponent across from us on the mat. Looking forward to another challenge in the Midwest classic next week!"
 
The Mustangs will be back in action next weekend, competing in the Midwest Open in Indianapolis, Ind., on Dec. 13 and 14.
