HAYS, Kan. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's soccer team were defeated today by the Fort Hays State Tigers by a score of 3-0.
The Tigers scored on a penalty kick in the fourth minute of the first half, scored by Sydney Cooter.
Fort Hays State converted two more chances in the second half within six minutes of each other, putting the game out of reach for SMSU.
The lone shot on goal for the Mustangs came from
Brooke Wetterstrom in the second half.
The Mustangs were out shot by the Tigers by a total of 20-3, with eight being on target for the Tigers.
SMSU starts NSIC play next week with two away games. First against Bemidji State on Friday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m., and against Minnesota Duluth on Sunday, Sept. 21 at 1 p.m. Both matches are available to watch on the NSIC Network.
