MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team is back in the PE Gym this week facing a pair of nationally ranked NSIC squads. The Mustangs face off against UMary on Thursday, Jan. 15, at 7 p.m., and St. Cloud State the following Saturday at 2 p.m.
 
Last weekend the Mustangs hosted the Iron Mike Duals in the R/A Facility, picking up nine wins in the process. SMSU faced fellow NSIC rival Sioux Falls along with Central Missouri, Quincy (Ill.), and Fort Hays State.
 
Fifth-year head coach Chayse Jackson will using 10 of a possible 15 athletes against both UMary and St. Cloud State.
 
UMary is ranked No. 19 in the DII NWCA coaches' poll, and hold a 7-2 dual record this season, which includes wins over No. 12 ranked Grand Valley State and No. 6 ranked Tiffin University (Ohio). The Marauders have four wrestlers ranked in the top 15 of their respective weight classes.
 
St. Cloud State, ranked No. 13 in the DII NWCA coaches' poll, posts an 11-2 record in duals, including wins over Grand Valley State, No. 10 ranked Glenville State (W.Va.), No. 13 ranked Augustana, and UMary. The Huskies hold three wrestlers in the top 15 of their respective weight classes.
 
The Mustangs are on the road next week facing Minnesota State Moorhead on Thursday, Jan. 23, at 6 p.m., before traveling west to face Minot State the following Saturday at 12 p.m. Both duals will be streamed on the NSIC Network, and more information can be found at smsumustangs.com/sports/wrestling.
