SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The Southwest Minnesota State women's swimming & diving team split a double-dual inside the Midco Aquatic Center on Friday night defeating Sioux Falls, 210-150, while losing to Minnesota State, 240-137.
SMSU finished the meet with 10 first-place finishes by four individuals including three each by
Carla Nevi,
Maddy Storm and
Lexi Weems.
Nevi captured first-place in the 50-yard backstroke hitting the wall at 27.64, won the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 59.42 and earned the win in the 150-yard backstroke at 1:33.93.
Storm finished with a winning time of 31.15 in the 50-yard breaststroke, earned first-place in the 100-yard breaststroke at 1:08.35 and won the 150-yard breaststroke at 1:48.31.
Weems also earned three first-place finishes, winning the 50-yard freestyle at 24.28 and the 100-yard freestyle at 53.08. She won the 50-yard freestyle a second time as well at 24.10 with
Elyanna Dogotch placing second at 26.19.
Maggie Johnson picked-up a first-place time winning the 50-yard butterfly at 26.61.
Grace Aesoph finished third in the 50-yard butterfly at 27.15, while
Savannah Orzech was third in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 11:10.36 and second in the 250-yard freestyle at 2:37.89.
SMSU, 4-6 in dual meets this season, returns home on Friday, Jan. 23 with a dual versus Northern State starting at 6 p.m. inside The Don Palm Natatorium.
