MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State University women's swimming & diving team will have its final home dual of the season on Friday taking on Northern State University starting at 6 p.m. inside the Don Palm Natatorium.
Friday's meet will feature 14 individual or relay events along with 1-meter and 3-meter diving.
SMSU is 6-1 all-time versus Northern State, including winning twice last season.
SMSU last competed on Friday, Jan. 16, splitting a double-dual at the University of Sioux Falls, defeating USF and losing to Minnesota State. The Mustangs finished the meet with 10 first-place finishes by four individuals including three each by
Carla Nevi,
Maddy Storm and
Lexi Weems.
Nevi captured first-place in the 50-yard backstroke, the 100-yard backstroke and the 150-yard backstroke. Storm finished with a winning time in the 50-yard breaststroke, won the 100-yard breaststroke and took first in the 150-yard breaststroke. Weems the 50-yard freestyle twice and captured first in the 100-yard freestyle.
Maggie Johnson also picked-up a first-place time winning the 50-yard butterfly.
Friday's meet will also be 'Senior Night' with the program recognizing seniors Nevi and
Ashlynn Dunlop.
Following Friday's meet, SMSU will compete at the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Championships on Feb. 11-14 in West Fargo, N.D.
