MARSHALL, Minn. – The Southwest Minnesota State wrestling team hosted the Iron Mike Duals Friday afternoon, earning nine wins across four duals. The nine wins included six decisions, one major decision (MD), one technical fall (TF), and one forefit.
 
Bronson Richins, Dylan St. Germain, and Tate Condezo were the three Mustangs with two wins on the afternoon, with Chase Hanson, Mason Buss, and Noah Jensen adding the other three victories.
 
Bronson Richins earned a decision victory against Quincy's Dimitri Bao-Washington and wrestled his way to a MD over Fort Hays Stats's Kolton Field 12-3.
 
Tate Condezo defeated Xerarch Tungjaroenkul of Central Missouri by decision 9-6 before earning the lone tech fall of the duals for the Mustangs in the first period against FHSU's Micah Castro.
 
Dylan St. Germain chipped in with a decision win against Quincy's Brian Farley 5-3, and earning a forefit victory against Fort Hays State.
 
Northern State and Sioux Falls, the other NSIC teams competing in the duals, went 3-0 and 3-1 on the weekend, with Central Missouri going 2-1, Quincy (Ill.) finishing 2-2, and Fort Hays State at 1-3.

"Today was an awesome tribute to Mike Sterner and his legacy here at SMSU. The tournament showcased some of the best athletes in the area and provided tough competition for all," said fifth year head coach Chayse Jackson. "While we didn't have the results we wanted, we learned lessons that will help us grow and improve as we push into the dual season. The first half of the year is over, it's time to close it strong!"
 
The Mustangs are back in the PE Gym next week, facing UMary on Thursday, Jan. 15 at 7:30 p.m., and St. Cloud State the following Saturday at 2 p.m. Both duals will be streamed live on the NSIC Network. Tickets and more information can be found at smsumustangs.com/sports/wrestling.
