MARSHALL, Minn. - Southwest Minnesota State University will host the 2009 NCAA Division II Super Regional Three Wrestling Championships on Saturday, March 1, at the R/A Facility in Marshall.
The tournament features eight teams with 80 wrestlers scheduled to participate. First round matches start at 12 p.m. with the finals beginning at 6 p.m. Admission for the entire tournament is $12 for adults and $8 for senior citizens/students. Gates open at 11 a.m.
The top four wrestlers in each of the 10 weight classes will advance to the NCAA Division II National Championships in Houston, Texas, on March 13-14.
This year’s regional tournament will feature several of the nation’s top-ranked teams and 15 nationally ranked individuals. Nationally ranked squads include No. 3 Minnesota State Mankato, No. 9 Upper Iowa, No. 10 St. Cloud State and No. 13 Augustana. Minnesota State Moorhead, University of Mary, Northern State and Southwest Minnesota State round out the regional field.
