The Southwest Minnesota State athletics department is proud is announce that the inaugural Mustang Stampede to benefit SMSU Women's Athletics will be held on Sept. 18, 2010, in conjunction with the Smokefest 2010 activities. The event features a 5K run/walk and women's and health and wellness expo. All proceeds will benefit athletic scholarships for women at SMSU.

Registration for the 5K run/walk will begin at 8 a.m. on Sept. 18 at the Regional Event Center on the campus of SMSU. Start time is at 9 a.m.

A women's health and wellness expo featuring local and regional businesses will also be held at the REC from 10 a.m to 12 p.m.

The SMSU soccer and volleyball teams will also be in action later that afternoon. The Mustang soccer team plays Concordia University, St. Paul at 12 p.m., while the volleyball team faces Minnesota State, Mankato at 3 p.m.
