MARSHALL, Minn. – Stephanie Doak led a balanced Missouri Western State attack with 14 kills to pace the No. 6 seed Griffons to a 25-21, 21-25, 25-17, 25-22 victory over No. 3 seed Nebraska-Kearney in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament on Thursday afternoon at the PE Gym.
Missouri Western (25-10) advances to Friday’s semifinal match at 5 p.m. and will face No. 2 seed Concordia-St. Paul. The victory was the first for MWSU in three NCAA Tournament appearances.
UNK, ranked No. 6 nationally, closes its season at 33-4 overall.
MWSU hit .233 in the match with 61 kills on 159 attacks and finished with 13 total blocks. Shelby Taylor recorded 13 kills for MWSU, while teammate Ali Tauchen chipped in with 11 kills.
Kendall Schroer recorded a team-high 14 kills for the Lopers, while Anna Squiers finished with 12 kills.
