MARSHALL, Minn. – No. 5 seed Minnesota Duluth earned a hard-fought five-set victory over No. 4 seed Northern State in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Central Region Tournament on Thursday night at the PE Gym. UMD won by scores of 25-21, 25-19, 22-25, 21-25, 15-12.
Minnesota Duluth (25-6), ranked No. 7 in this week’s Top 25 poll, advances to Friday’s semifinal match at 7:30 p.m. and will play either Southwest Minnesota State or Arkansas Tech.
NSU, ranked No. 11 nationally, ends its season at 23-7 overall.
Sarah Kelly led the Bulldogs with a match-high 23 kills on 46 attempts for a .326 hitting percentage. Kate Berg, Allison Olley and Abby Thor each finished with 11 kills.
Laura Snyder recorded a team-high 16 kills for the Wolves, while Jenna Reiff finished with 14 kills.
