Derek Edholm

Derek Edholm begins his first season as SMSU’s tight ends coach in 2015.
 
Edholm comes to SMSU after spending two seasons as tight ends coach at Wayne State College. He began his coaching career in 2012 serving as a volunteer coach for quarterbacks and wide receivers at Bemidji State University.
 
Edholm was a standout quarterback at Bemidji State from 2006-10. He started 33 games in his career and was a two-time team captain. Edholm was BSU’s offensive MVP as a junior in 2009, passing for 1,662 yards and 25 touchdowns. He earned All-NSIC accolades three times in his career.
 
Edholm is a 2011 graduate of BSU with a degree in business administration. He completed his master’s degree from Wayne State in sport management in 2015.

Derek and his wife, Kari, live in Marshall.
