SMSU Athletics

Evan Eastburn begins his second season as running backs coach at SMSU in 2013.

In 2012, Eastburn coached a pair of all-conference running backs, while SMSU set a school record with 23 rushing touchdowns and average 171.6 rushing yards per game.

Eastburn came to SMSU after spending the last three seasons coaching at the high school level in Colorado.  He served as offensive line coach and run-game coordinator for two seasons (2009-10) at Fairview High School in Boulder, helping lead the team to the state semifinals in 2009.  In 2011, he coached running backs at Pomona High School in Arvada, and helped lead the team to the state semifinals.

Eastburn, a native of Boulder, Colo., spent three seasons as an offensive lineman at the University of Maryland, before finishing his career at the University of Colorado.

Eastburn is a 2010 graduate of the University of Colorado with a degree in political science.  He is pursuing his master’s degree from SMSU in sports leadership.
