Khanis Hubbard

Khanis Hubbard

Khanis Hubbard is in his first season on the SMSU coaching staff in 2022 and will serve as the team’s defensive line coach.
 
Hubbard comes to SMSU with more than 15 years of collegiate coaching experience with his most recent stop at Lock Haven University (Pa.) where he served as defensive coordinator and defensive backs coach for two seasons (2020-21).
 
Prior to LHU, Hubbard six seasons at Quincy University (2013-18), serving in various roles, including offensive coordinator, offensive line coach, defensive coordinator, and defensive line coach. As defensive coordinator during the 2016 season, Quincy produced seven defensive All-GLVC performers. The defense ranked 13th in defensive touchdowns, 25th in passing yards allowed per game and 29th in total defense and tackles for loss.
 
Before his time at Quincy, Hubbard spent nine full seasons coaching Catawba College (2004-12), where he served as the defensive line coach, co-recruiting coordinator, and video coordinator. Catawba made two NCAA playoff appearances during his tenure and led the South Atlantic Conference in total defense in 2005 and 2008.
 
Hubbard earned his bachelor’s degree in communication arts from Catawba in 2004 and his master’s degree in sport and exercise psychology and a master's of sport science in sport management from Lock Haven in 2021.
 
He was a four-year standout at Catawba and closed his career with 169 tackles, 19.5 sacks and 50 tackles for loss. He was a team captain and two-time all-conference honoree, while earning All-American honors as a senior in 2003.
