Miguel Black is in his second season on the SMSU coaching staff in 2022 and will coaching the team’s defensive backs.
During the 2021 season, Black was in charge of coaching the SMSU running backs with Mustang junior Jesse Sherwood ranked fourth in the NSIC rushing for 787 yards, while scoring six touchdowns.
Black came to SMSU after serving as running backs coach for two seasons (2019-20) at Mississippi College. He also served as a diversity admissions counselor and director of orientation for the College.
Black served as an assistant coach during the 2018 season at Madison Ridgeland Academy.
Black, who played football at Mississippi College for two seasons, is a 2019 graduate of Mississippi College with a degree in kinesiology (pre-physical therapy) and a minor in Spanish. He earned his master’s degree in athletic administration from Mississippi College in 2021.
