Mike Deschneau

Mike Deschneau

Michael Deschneau is in his third season on the Mustang coaching staff and serves as the team’s director of football operations and special teams assistant.
 
Deschneau, who is an assistant professor of special education at SMSU, joined the Mustang coaching staff during the 2018 season.
 
Deschneau has served as an assistant coach at both the high school and collegiate levels. He has been an offensive coordinator at Mankato West High School and defensive coordinator at North Branch Area High School. He was also an assistant coach at Forest Lake High School and New Prague High School.
 
At the collegiate level, Deschneau was an assistant coach at Gustavus for four seasons (2005-08) and has also coached at Concordia-St. Paul (2014), Augsburg (2015) and Hamline (2016). He began his collegiate coaching career at South Dakota State for two seasons (2001-02).
 
He has also been an assistant men’s and women’s hockey coach at Gustavus and was the head boys’ hockey coach at North Branch High School for two seasons.
 
Deschneau earned his bachelor's degree from Gustavus in management in 2001 and a master's degree in teaching from Walden University in 2010, specializing in learning disabilities. He is pursuing a doctor of education degree from Bethel University in educational leadership.
