Powell Chee enters his second year as defensive secondary coach at SMSU. Chee comes to SMSU after spending the past three seasons as an assistant coach at Half Moon Bay (Calif.) High School.
Chee began his coaching career in 1997, serving five seasons as an assistant coach at Half Moon Bay High School. He then spent three seasons as wide receivers coach at Occidental College (Calif.) from 2002-04, where he coached nine all-conference players before returning to high school coaching.
A native of Half Moon Bay, Calif., Chee played defensive back at College of San Mateo before earning his bachelor’s degree from UC-Santa Barbara in 1997. He earned his master’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in 2000 and is currently working on his master's degree in sports leadership from SMSU.
