Tim Connell

Tim Connell

Tim Connell is in his second season on the SMSU staff in 2011 and will coach the team's cornerbacks. 

In 2010, SMSU cornerback Curt Gosser recorded five interceptions, the most by a Mustang since 2005.

A native of Eldora, Iowa, Connell spent two seasons as a graduate assistant for the University of the Redlands in Redlands, Calif.  He coached wide receivers for Redlands and helped the team to a record of 14-4 in two seasons.

Connell was a four-year letterwinner at Central College in Pella, Iowa, where he was a three-year starter at quarterback and earned honorable mention All-America honors as a senior in 2007.  He was also named Iowa Conference most valuable player in 2007, was a first team all-region honoree and earned team MVP accolades.

Connell, a 2008 graduate of Central with a degree in exercise science, holds school records for career passing yards (6,181), touchdown passes (58), pass completions (495) and total offense (7,145).  During his four seasons, Central College finished 37-8 and won three conference championships. 

Connell earned a master's degree in higher edcuation from the University of the Redlands in 2010.
