Amanda Johnson, enters her first season as an assistant softball coach at Southwest Minnesota State in 2012. Johnson, a four-year letterwinner (2006-09) at SMSU, will work with the pitching staff for the Mustang softball program.
Johnson is no stranger to the circle on the SMSU softball field. During her four-year playing career (2006-09) at SMSU, Johnson was twice named the Daktronics Region Pitcher of the Year while being named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Pitcher of the Year all four years of her career. She was also named to the Daktronics All-Region and NFCA All-Region team four times.
She currently is the school record holder for lowest opponent batting average (.201), fewest walks allowed (1.09), most strikeouts (8.37/game), wins (98), saves (14), appearances (159), games started (119), complete games (102), games finished (39), shutouts (34) and innings pitched (909.1).
