Gena Chester finished her first season as an assistant coach at SMSU in 2015.
A native of Mankato, Minn., Chester comes to SMSU after a standout four-year playing career at Bethany Lutheran College. She was a three-time first team all-conference honoree and ended her career holding school records for games played and started (156), runs scored (113), hits (185) and doubles (43). She also ranks second in program history in home runs and fourth in batting average.
Chester is a 2014 graduate of Bethany Lutheran College with a degree in English. She is pursuing her master's degree at SMSU.
