Kari Loft

Kari Loft

     Kari Loft begins her tenth season as assistant coach at Southwest Minnesota State.  She will continue to assist in all aspects of the program.
     As the assistant, Loft helped the team to earned a co-conference championship title in 2007 and assisted the team in making its second consecutive NCAA regional tournament appearance.  The Mustangs earned the No. 3 seed and won its first two games at the regional tournament.  She helped guide the team to a 38-13 finish in 2007.
    Over the course of her career Loft as assisted four different teams in winning the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Title.
   A 1996 graduate of Southwest Minnesota State, Loft played four seasons for the Mustangs and was a member of two NSIC championship teams.  Loft served as captain her junior and senior years while also being the field leader behind the plate as catcher.  In her senior season, Loft batted .319 in 45 games.  She also scored 18 runs and drove in four for the Mustangs that year.
     Loft graduated from SMSU with a bachelor's degree in health/physical education and earned her master’s in educational leadership from SMSU. 
     Loft began her coaching career in 1997 and spent two seasons as an assistant coach at Burnsville High school in Burnsville, MN.
     Loft lives in Marshall with her husband, Kelly and two children, Dillon and Regan.
