Emily Hester enters her second season as an assistant coach for the SMSU soccer program in 2015.
Hester, a native of Cedar Falls, Iowa, comes to SMSU after an outstanding four-year playing career at Bellevue University (Neb.) from 2010-14. A three-time second team all-conference honoree at defender, she was a member of three regular season conference championship teams and four conference tournament championship squads, while helping Bellevue advance to four NAIA national tournaments.
Hester was a three-time conference scholar-athlete and following her senior season was honored with the NAIA Champions of Character Award, which was awarded to just 31 athletes nationwide. She was also named team MVP as a senior and was named athletic department's female-athlete of the year. Hester closed her career playing in 72 games with 62 starts, scoring one goal with five assists.
She has served as a coach for various club and high school programs during her college career, including working with the Nebraska Olympic Development program and Omaha North High School.
Hester is a 2014 graduate of Bellevue with a degree in health and human performance.
