Jessica Schumacher-Petersen enters her third season as Terry Culhane's top assistant at SMSU in 2009.
The Fargo, N.D., native comes to SMSU from Osseo, Wis., where she served as the physical education teacher and head varsity volleyball coach at Osseo-Fairchild Public School for four years. Prior to Osseo-Fairchild, Schumacher has had coaching success as various levels. She was the junior varsity and assistant varsity coach at Fargo High School for two seasons, where she lead the junior varsity team to two undefeated seasons, while gaining the 2003 Eastern Dakota Conference and North Dakota State Champions title at the varsity level. She also served as the Red River Valley Junior Olympics Coach for two seasons in Fargo, N.D.
Schumacher earned her bachelor's degree in exercise science/physical education from Concordia College of Moorhead in 2001. She was a member of the Concordia volleyball team from 1998-2001 and played one season at North Dakota State University in 1997-98. She completed her master’s degree in education in 2007 from the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse.
Jessica and her husband John live in Marshall.
