SMSU Athletics

Bryan Powell, who played five seasons for the SMSU wheelchair basketball team, is in his fourth season as coach for the wheelchair basketball program in 2026-27.

Powell served as interim head coach during the 2025-26 season and led the Mustangs to a 13-11 record and a fourth-place finish at the NIWBT Championships in Tucson, Ariz. 

Powell played at SMSU from 2014-19 and earned his degree from SMSU in sports management, while receiving his master's degree from SMSU in 2025. 

Bryan and his wife, Alexa, have two children, June and Olivia.
