Mattie Hennen is in her sixth year as an assistant athletic trainer at SMSU in 2025-26. She was a graduate assistant for two years before being named full-time in May of 2022.

Hennen is a 2020 graduate of King University with a degree in athletic training and worked as an athletic training student with the King University softball and wrestling teams. She also served as athletic trainer for numerous high school programs.
Hennen is also the cheer team coach at SMSU.
Hennen earned her master's degree from SMSU in education with an emphasis in sports leadership in 2022.
Mattie and her husband, Cole, live in Marshall with their son, Archie.Â
