Ross Webskowski is in his 22nd season as the women’s golf head coach at Southwest Minnesota State University in 2025-26 and continues to keep the Mustang program among the top in both the NSIC and NCAA Central Region.
Webskowski also serves as SMSU's Associate AD for Internal Affairs after serving as the department's compliance and student-athlete academic affairs coordinator for 10 years.
During his 21 seasons as head coach, Webskowski has led the Mustangs to a pair of NSIC team championships and six NCAA regional tournaments, including four straight NCAA appearances from 2009-12. He has also had two individuals advance to the NCAA National Championships.
Under the director of Webskowksi, SMSU finished fourth at the 2012 NCAA regional with Krista Weiszhaar becoming just the third Mustang individual to advance to the NCAA Championships. He also coached SMSU’s two other individual NCAA national qualifiers in 2003 and 2004.
In his first season as head coach in 2004-05, SMSU won its fifth straight conference title, winning the championship by 31 strokes while also advancing to its fourth straight trip to the NCAA regional in the spring of 2005. In 2005-06, SMSU once again won the NSIC championship and qualified for the NCAA regional tournament. For his efforts he was named the 2005 NSIC Coach of the Year.
During his tenure as head coach, SMSU has won 10 tournament titles, while two Mustang individuals have captured NSIC Golfer of the Year accolades and another has captured NSIC Newcomer of the Year honors. In 2009-10, sophomore KC Kane set a school single-season record with a 79.6 stroke average.
SMSU has also had success off the course as well with more than 30 individuals being named to the National Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team. As a team, SMSU has finished among the Top 25 NGCA All-Scholar Team GPA numerous times during his tenure.
Under Webskowski's direction, the SMSU golf program has had 11 first team CSC/CoSIDA Academic All-District honorees, while in 2015-16, senior Becky Koepp became the first Mustang golfer to receive CoSIDA Academic All-American (third team) accolades. In 2014, senior Rachel Patnoe was named the NSIC Willis R. Kelly Award winner as the top Female Scholar Student-Athlete.
A native of Brandon, Minn., Webskowski served as assistant women’s golf coach at SMSU for two seasons before taking over as head coach in the summer of 2004. He began his coaching career at SMSU as an assistant men’s basketball coach for four seasons.
Ross and his wife, Heather, live in Marshall with their daughter, Dayton and son, Zander.
