Adam Henning is in his fourth season as head coach of the SMSU women's tennis program 2018 and also serves as the assistant director of athletic development/marketing and communications for SMSU Athletics.
In his inaugural season in 2015, SMSU finished 5-13 overall and 1-10 in the NSIC. In 2016, SMSU recorded a 2-15 record, including 1-10 in NSIC action.
In 2017, SMSU recorded a mark of 4-18 overall, 1-10 NSIC.
Henning is no stranger to SMSU athletics, having spent two years as assistant athletic communications director at SMSU from 2012-14.
A native of Brooklyn, Iowa, Henning graduated from SMSU in 2011 with a degree in physical education with a concentration in sports management. He earned his master's degree in marketing from SMSU in 2014.
As an undergraduate student, Henning interned with the SMSU athletic department and also with the Marshall A’s amateur baseball team.
In the summer of 2011, Henning was a box-office intern for the Sioux Falls Pheasants baseball team in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Henning worked with the Ticketmaster program and assisted in various game-day and box-office tasks.
Upon graduation from SMSU, Henning was hired as a sales executive for the Sioux Falls Pheasants Baseball Team and Sioux Falls Stampede Hockey Club. Henning also created digital graphics and designed content for the websites and video-boards.
Adam and his wife, Greta, currently resides in Marshall.
