Tori Fink had a career-high 17 points against Concordia

No. 3 Concordia Holds on for a 71-65 Victory Over SMSU

MARSHALL, MINN.:  Concordia St. Paul went on a 6-0 run in the final 55 seconds of the game to earn a 71-65 victory over Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday evening in Marshall.

The Mustangs held the Golden Bears scoreless for eight minutes in the second half but CSP held on to remain undefeated as they now post a 18-0 overall record and 9-0 in the NSIC.  SMSU falls to 7-10 overall and 3-6 in conference play.

SMSU tied it up at 65-65 with 1:14 remaining in the game after freshman Tori Fink hit back-to-back three-pointers and Heidi Kimmes put in a layup.  Concordia's Mary Schroeder missed a three-point shot and SMSU's Megan Wittkop had an opportunity to grab the rebound but it slipped away and CSP's Kelly Lund was able to put get an easy put back lay-up.

Southwest finished the game with a shooting percentage of 39.3 percent while the Golden Bears only connected on 23-of-66 shots for a 34.8 shooting percentage.  SMSU was outrebounded 44 to 35 in the contest.

The Mustangs were led by Tori Fink who had a career-high 17 points.  She was 6-of-13 from the field and 2-of-4 from three-point range.  Fink was one of three Mustangs to record double-digits.  Heidi Kimmes also added 17 points and grabbed four rebounds.  Sara Leidall contributed 14 points and led the team with six rebounds.  Leidall was 6-of- 7 from the field for the night.

Abby Oakland led the team with four assists while also recording four rebounds and nine points.

Concordia's Amanda Behnke recorded are sixth double-double of the season with 18 points and 13 rebounds.  CSP had four players with double-digit points, Behnke (18), Mary Schroeder and Katie LaViolette (15) and Candace Olstad (12).

SMSU will be back in action next weekend hosting Minnesota Crookston and Bemidji State on Jan. 25-26.
