Brookings, S.D. - The Southwest Minnesota State women's basketball team dropped an exhibition game to South Dakota State 91-49 on Sunday in Brookings, S.D. The NCAA Division I Jackrabbits won the Summit League championship last year and made the women's NIT for the second consecutive season.
For the Mustangs,
Sara Leidall led the way with 14 points and seven rebounds.
Abby Oakland added eight points, connecting on 2-of-5 shots from the outside.
Megan Stadler poured in seven points and a team-high four assists off the bench.
The Jackrabbits used a size-advantage to out-rebound the Mustangs 57-33 and force 20 Southwest turnovers.
SMSU, 2-1 so far in the regular season, will host its home opener on Saturday, Nov. 15 with a 2 p.m. tipoff against Chadron State (Neb.).
