Box Score

MARSHALL, MINN. -
The Southwest Minnesota State women's basketball team grabbed a season-high 57 rebounds to march past Cardinal Stritch (Wis.) and post a 79-52 victory over the Wolves Monday afternoon in Marshall.

The Mustangs improve to 8-5 (0-3 NSIC) on the season, while CSU drops to 7-7.

Tori Fink and Taylor Voss provided the offensive burst for the host Mustangs as they scored 15 and 14 points, respectively.  Voss' output was a career high; Fink, whose 15 points came via three-of-five shooting from behind the arc, also snagged a career-high eight rebounds on the afternoon.

Laura Kramer also clipped the double-digit mark in points, adding 10 to go along with her eight rebounds.

Annie Smith  grabbed eight boards in the victory.

SMSU mounted a 9-0 run sparked by a Voss three-pointer eight minutes into the first half, and the Mustangs managed to stretch that lead to 13.  SMSU sported a 10-point advantage heading into the locker room.

The Wolves, however, cut the Mustang lead to seven on two occasions early in the second half.  That was as close as they would get; SMSU assembled a 10-1 run in the closing five minutes and took its decisive 27-point lead off an Andrea Fennern three-point play in the last 60 seconds.

SMSU's dominance on the glass proved to be the difference maker as the Mustangs converted 25 points on second-chance opportunities.

Renet Skorusa's 13 points and Lisa Lawrence's 10 rebounds led CSU.

The Mustangs now gear up for a pair of conference opponents coming to Marshall for a weekend set.  SMSU hosts No. 11 Minnesota State Moorhead on Friday and Minnesota Crookston on Saturday.  Both contests are 6 p.m. tip-offs.
