MARSHALL, MINN.: 
Southwest Minnesota State's Andrea Fennern's two run homer in the fifth led the Mustangs to a 5-3 victory over Truman State in game one.  In game two the Mustangs were defeated 10-3.

SMSU has an overall record of 10-6 while Truman State is now 10-6 as well.

The Mustangs started off the first game strong scoring two runs in the first inning.  Jessica Paczosa and Meaghan Laetsch started with back-to-back singles which was followed by a single from Amanda Burkhart later in in the inning earning two RBI.

SMSU went up 3-0 in the top of the fourth as Fennern lead off the inning with a single and was later drove in by Paczosa. 

Truman State however made a come back in the bottom of the fourth as TSU's Mayer homered over the left field fence bringing in the Bulldogs three runs as two runners were on base do to a single and a walk to start the inning.

In the fifth, Burkhart reached base on a base hit and then with two outs Fennern hit a home run to left bring bringing in two runs for the win.

Burkhart led the Mustangs with three hits and two RBI while Fennern was 2-for-2 at the plate with two RBI.

Johnson earned the win on the mound pitching a complete game with six strikeouts.  She improves her record to 7-2 overall.

In game two, Truman State had 16 hits for the win.  SMSU scored early having two runs in the first and one run in the second inning.  In the first inning, Amanda Opatz had a single to drive in the first two runs, while in the second inning freshman Katie Turner hit her first collegiate home run to score SMSU third and final run.

The Bulldogs scored three runs in the second and third inning and then added four runs in the fourth off five hits.

SMSU's Angie Rohne got the start on the mound pitching two innings while allowing five hits.  Freshman Sara Silke pitched four innings and had two strikeouts while allowing 11 hits.

Southwest was led by Opatz with two hits and two RBI while Turner, Jessica Paczosa and Amanda Burkhart each added one hit.

The Mustangs will be back in action next weekend, March 29 and 30 at the University of Nebraska Omaha Tournament.  SMSU will play five games beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Mar. 29.
