Wheelchair Basketball Heads to NIWBT

MARSHALL, Minn. - The No. 6-ranked Southwest Minnesota State wheelchair basketball team takes its 9-15 record to Whitewater, Wis., this weekend to compete in the 32nd National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament. The tournament runs from Thursday to Saturday

The Mustangs open the tournament with with a contest against Texas-Arlington, the nation's No. 3-ranked squad. The Mustangs lost both games against UTA this season.

"We are undoubtedly playing our best basketball of the season right now and are primed to surprise people at nationals,” said co-head coach Paul Weiland. "We will need a big game from Evan Thorn, who is leading us in both scoring and assists, but all in all we will need a complete team effort from everyone to advance well into the tournament.
