MARSHALL, Minn. – No. 20 Concordia University, St. Paul got a game-high 23 points from Zoraa Quoie and shot 53.5 percent from the floor to top Southwest Minnesota State 100-78 Saturday night in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference action in Marshall.
CU improves 14-2 (8-1 NSIC), while SMSU falls to 11-5 (5-4 NSIC).
The loss snapped a seven-game home winning streak for SMSU, which had not been defeated at home since its season opener against Truman State on Nov. 20, 2009.
SMSU played the contest without two of its top three scorers and top two three-pointer shooters.
Heather Smith and
Tori Fink both missed the game with injures. The duo combine to average 21.5 points per game and have connected on a combined 40 three-pointers.
Laura Kramer finished with a career-high 19 points and 12 rebounds to register her second double-double of the season and fourth of her career. The Mustangs had three others reach double figures as
Miley Hunziker recorded 15 points,
Abby Kenealy added 12 and #Taylor Voss scored 10.
Megan Stadler continued her streak of assist-leading performances, handing out a game-high eight. In the process, the senior point guard tied Dani Coleman's career mark of 401 assists and is now tied for No. 3 in school history. She has yet to play a game this season where she has not led the Mustangs in the category.
CU had five score in double figures.
The Golden Bears pressured the Mustangs with a full-court press right out the gates, forcing a handful of turnovers and tuning them into 13 points in the first half. The CU lead was a double-digit one after ten minute of play.
It was a 19-0 run that spanned just less than four minutes that put the Golden Bears comfortably in control in the first half. The spurt put CU 29 points at 44-15 with 6 minutes and 24 seconds left in the half.
Miley Hunziker finally connected on SMSU's first field goal since the 10:37 mark when she hit a three-pointer with 6:13 remaining before the break.
The Golden Bears settled on a 23-point advantage at the half, thanks to a scorching 56.8 percent shooting performance and Gillian Bjerke's 15 points.

Miley Hunziker's 10 first-half points.
CU's hot shooting performance continued in the second half, and the Golden Bears held a considerable advantage throughout.
The Mustangs, however, did get the deficit down to a manageable amount after a
Taylor Voss bucket had SMSU within 12 points at 83-71 with 4:34 left in the contest. With a chance to cut the CU led to 10, Kramer missed the front of a one-and-one, allowing the Golden Bears to quickly hit a three-pointer to bring their lead back to 15 points.
The Golden Bears took their largest lead of the night--22 points--to close the contest.
CU dominated down low, scoring more than half its points in the paint. The Golden Bear bench production was just as effective, accounting for 42 points.
The Mustangs put together a solid performance from behind the arc, connecting on 8-of-16 three-pointers, with six of them coming in the second half.
SMSU is on the road next weekend, traveling to Augustana and Wayne State.
