Mustangs Charge Past Buena Vista

BOUT-BY-BOUT RESULTS

STORM LAKE, Iowa
- Southwest Minnesota State picked up wins in all but one bout to cruise past Buena Vista 41-3 Saturday afternoon in non-conference dual action in Storm Lake, Iowa.

SMSU improves to 2-3, while BVU drops to 1-11-1.

Robert Morris started off what turned out to be a nearly flawless afternoon for the Mustangs, picking up a 3-2 win in his 125 pound bout over BVU's Austin Mogg, who is ranked No. 6 in the latest Division III national poll.

#A.J. Jenniges# added another three points to SMSU's team total with an 8-6 decision over Aaron Davenport at 133 pounds.

At 141 pounds, Brandan Schunk notched a 13-3 major decision over Tim Vore, putting his squad up 10-0.

The Mustangs picked up their next two wins by fall as Kyle Anderson pinned Codey Schultz at 149 pounds and Wade Granger pinned Lucas Harm at 157 pounds.  Both SMSU wrestlers needed a little more than a minute into the bout to pick up the win.

Sporting a 22-0 lead, Trent Molacek pushed the Mustang lead to 23-0 with a 7-3 win over Roman Villegas at 165 pounds.

Micah Larson moved the advantage six-points deeper by pinning Nate Tool in 5:32 at 174 pounds.

At 184 pounds, #C.D. Johnson# picked up SMSU's eighth straight win in the dual, taking an 11-2 major decision from Tyler Winkleman.

The Mustangs experienced their first and only defeat of the afternoon at 197 pounds when Alex Huls fell to Brian Broll 8-1.

Carter Ash closed out the dual by pinning Mark Frye in 2:37.

SMSU returns to action at Minnesota State Moorhead on Friday.  The conference dual is scheduled for 7 p.m.
