THIS WEEKEND: The Southwest Minnesota State University men's basketball team (14-11, 9-10 NSIC) closes out the 2009-10 regular season on Saturday, Feb. 27, with an important Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference game at Northern State University (13-13, 9-10 NSIC) at Wachs Arena in Aberdeen, S.D.  Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m.
    SMSU, which snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday night, enters Saturday night's game tied for seventh place in the conference standings along with Wayne State and Northern State.  The top eight teams in the regular season standings qualify for the 2010 NSIC/Sanford Health Men's Basketball Tournament starting on March 3. 
    A victory for SMSU on Saturday night would assure a spot in the conference tournament at either a sixth, seventh or eighth seed depending on the outcomes over several other games on Saturday.
