MARSHALL, Minn. - No. 2-seeded Wisconsin-Whitewater's Nate Hinze recorded a double-double with 26 points and 12 rebounds to lead his Warhawks past No. 7-seeded Southwest Minnesota State 71-45 in the opening round of the National Intercollegiate Wheelchair Basketball Tournament Friday afternoon in Marshall.
UWW improves to 26-6 and will play Texas-Arlington today at 7 p.m. in the semifinals, while SMSU drops to 2-13 and will play Missouri at 5 p.m. in the consolation round.
The Warhawks also got 14 points from Andre Bienek.
Jacob Williams' 19 points and 10 rebounds paced the Mustangs.
Nathan Carruth was also in double figures with 10 points.
SMSU trailed by just three points at half time, but UWW shot 62.9 percent in the second half to pull away in the second half.
The Warhawks scored 46 of their 71 points in the paint and scored 21 ponts off of SMSU's 16 turnovers.
