Four Mustangs Honored by NSIC

ST. PAUL, Minn. –
The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference announced on Thursday that Southwest Minnesota State University senior pitcher Adam Schrader has been named first team All-NSIC, while senior first baseman Andrew Kinney, junior designated hitter Cody Curry and junior outfielder Tyler Fayden have been named second team All-NSIC, as voted on by the conference's 13 head coaches.

Schrader, a native of Easton, Minn., has appeared in 13 games, making 11 starts, compiling a 5-4 record with a 3.37 ERA in team-high 69.1 innings.  He has three complete games and two shutouts and has recorded a team-high 57 strikeouts.  In NSIC games, Schrader led the conference in ERA (2.37), finished second in innings pitched (57.0), second in strikeouts (48), second in victories (5) and third in opponents' batting average (.227).  It's the first time in his career he has been named first team All-NSIC.  He was a second team honoree in 2007.

Kinney, a native of Coon Rapids, Minn., earns All-NSIC honors for the second straight season.  He was a first team selection in 2009.   Kinney is batting .346 and leads the team in home runs (14), RBIs (43) and runs scored (43).  In conference play, he finished second in home runs (12) and eighth in slugging percentage (.783).

Curry, a native of Alexandria, Minn., is batting a team-high .442 and is tied for the team lead with 15 doubles.  He also has three home runs, 24 RBIs and is third on the squad with 57 base hits.  In NSIC action, Curry finished second in batting average (.462), third in on-base percentage (.540) and fifth in doubles (15). 

Fayden, a native of Great Falls, Mont., is second on the team with a .414 batting average and is tied for the team lead with 15 doubles.  He also has clubbed six home runs and recorded 32 RBIs.  In conference play, he finished ninth in batting average (.438) and third in hit by pitches (9). 

Southwest Minnesota State, 26-17 overall, competes in the NSIC tournament in St. Cloud, Minn., on Thursday starting at 12 p.m.
