SMSU Wheelchair Basketball Cruises to Two Wins over Rolling Timberwolves

MARSHALL, Minn. -
The Southwest Minnesota State wheelchair basketball team picked up two wins over the Rolling Timberwolves this afternoon by scores of 56-19 and 62-19. The Mustangs hadn't played a game in just over a month playing last on Dec. 10.

Jake Williams led the Mustangs offensive attack on the afternoon finishing the day with 36 points. Williams picked up 20 points and seven rebounds in the first game of the night. Savoy Brown was the next leading scorer for the Mustangs finishing with 28 points. Brown added a double-double in the first game with a 16-point 11-rebound performance.

Kyle Timmerman added to the scoring frenzy for the Mustangs picking up 24 points in the doubleheader. Timmerman finished the second game of the night with 18 points and eight rebounds. Derek Klinkner made his first appearance of the season for the Mustang wheelchair basketball team picking up 14 points in his first showing of the season. 

David Nelson picked up 10 points on the night, Trisha Kienitz added four points and Josh Scanlon rounded out the SMSU scoring on the night picking up a bucket.

The Mustangs will use these two games as a warm-up for the College Conference Tournament which will be held Jan. 21-23 in Champaign, Ill. The Mustangs open the tournament on Friday at 5 p.m. against Alabama.

SMSU will then play three games on Saturday starting with Edinboro University at 8 a.m. Next the Mustangs will take on host University of Illinois at 11:30 a.m. before taking on UTA at 3 p.m. SMSU will wrap-up the tournament against Alabama at 10:45 on Sunday.
