Mustangs Finish Missouri Weekend 1-2

COLUMBIA, Mo. - The Southwest Minnesota State wheelchair basketball team finished 1-2 this past weekend at the University of Missouri in Columbia, Mo.

SMSU dropped a 62-42 decision to Illinois in its opener, before falling 65-52 to Missouri.  The Mustangs closed out the weekend earning a 64-54 victory over Edinboro University (Pa.).

In the loss to Illinois, Savoy Brown poured in 18 points and dished out six assists to lead the Mustangs.  Jake Williams added 10 points and five assists.

In the setback to Missouri, Williams poured in 32 points as he connected on 13 of 25 shots, while Brown added 12 points.  David Nelson added four points, while Derek Klinkner racked up four steals.

In SMSU's victory over Edinboro, Williams again had the hot hand, scoring 31 points, while Kyle Timmerman chipped in with seven points, six rebounds and four steals.  Brown added a double-double with 16 points and 16 rebounds. 

SMSU, 10-7 overall, will return to action on March 5, hosting the Junior Timberwolves. in a doubleheader.
