MARSHALL, Minn. – Minnesota State took home a 57-47 Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference victory over Southwest Minnesota State on Saturday evening in Marshall. The Mavericks finish the regular season 13-13 overall and 10-12 in league play while the Mustangs closed out the 2010-11 regular season 7-19, 6-16 NSIC.
Four seniors played their last game at Southwest Minnesota State tonight.

Heather Smith and
Lucia Puchelova all played their final game for the brown and gold tonight.
Fink finished the game with 11 points and eight rebounds, finishing her career with 1,013 points which lands her 16th all-time at SMSU.
Amber Peterson led all players in the game with 15 points on 5 of 11 shooting. Peterson hit three 3-pointers late in the second half to help the Mustangs slowly eat away at the Mavericks lead. She hit her first with 9:32 left in the game to bring the Mustangs within five at 40-35.
The Mavericks followed Peterson's 3-pointer with one of their own before Peterson answered with another to make the score 43-38 in favor of the Mavericks.
From that point on it would be all Minnesota State as the Mavericks slowly jumped out to an 11 point lead with 4:18 remaining.
The Mavericks outscored the Mustangs in the paint 22-16 with Ali Wilkinson picking up 10 points and nine rebounds and Laura Weber grabbing 11 points and nine rebounds.
Jennie Noreen, who torched SMSU for 31 points the last time the two teams met, led the Mavericks with 12 points.
Minnesota State jumped out to a 5-0 lead over the Mustangs, as SMSU would not hit its first field goal until the 15:59 mark, when Peterson hit a jumpshot in the paint. The Mustangs would continue to cut into the Mavericks lead tying the game at 11 with nine minutes to play.
SMSU would take its first lead of the game at 17-16 with six minutes to play in the first half on a jump shot by Kenealy. The lead would be short-lived as the Mavericks would go into the locker room with a 10-point lead at 30-20.
Laura Weber led the Mavericks in the first half with eight points and six rebounds. The Mustangs turned the ball over 12 times in the first half leading to 14 of MSU's 30 points.
This marks the final game of the season for Southwest Minnesota State as the Mustangs finish 7-19 overall and 6-16 in Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference play.
