OPENING TIP
The Southwest Minnesota State University women's basketball team (5-14, 4-11 NSIC) returns to the R/A Facility this weekend looking to put an end to its seven-game losing streak. The Mustangs have a tough task ahead, welcoming the top two teams in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, Wayne State and Augustana. SMSU will face No. 7 Wayne State (19-2, 13-2 NSIC) on Friday, Feb. 3, with tip-off set for 6 p.m before closing out the weekend on Saturday, Feb. 4, against No. 25 Augustana College (16-3, 13-2 NSIC) at 6 p.m. Saturday night is the annual “Hawaiian Night” game, concluding a week's worth of activities on campus in conjunction with “Winter Meltdown.” Winder Meltdown is an SMSU tradition, a time for students, faculty and staff to participate in fun activities to help beat the 'winter blues.'
